Introducing PAX Online

Replacing both PAX West and PAX Aus, both of which are large consumer-facing games events held in the latter half of the year, PAX Online is announced:

“Due to the impact of COVID-19, PAX West won’t be going ahead as an in-person event in Seattle this year. A digital replacement, PAX Online, is on the cards instead. It’ll run from September 12th-20th, and it’ll be entirely free.”


 
What did Electronic Arts Show at the EA Play Live 2020 Event?

Even without an E3 to frame new game announcements, Electronic Arts still used a June time frame to unveil upcoming games:

“Electronic Arts had a small slate of announcements for its not-E3 presentation today, including a new Skate game that is very early in development, Apex Legends coming to Switch, and more details on Star Wars: Squadrons.”

AT&T May Seek to Sell Warner Brothers’ Gaming Division

“AT&T is offering its Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment (WBIE) division up for sale, according to a CNBC report, as well as our own reporting.

Citing unnamed sources, CNBC said (last) Friday that potential bidders included Take-Two Interactive, Electronic Arts, and Activision Blizzard. If the sale happens, it would be a major change for Hollywood and its relationship with the industry, as most major studios are opting to get out of the game business, reversing a trend from earlier decades where they loaded up on dev studios.”


Ziggurat Acquires Majesco Licenses

Ziggurat continues to explore older and classic franchises as properties to acquire, not long after having acquired the 3DO Game Company portfolio:

“Colorado-based publisher Ziggurat Interactive is set to relaunch the BloodRayne franchise following its acquisition of multiple game licenses from Majesco Entertainment.

Other licenses included in the deal are Advent Rising, Raze’s Hell, and Flip’s Twisted World — Ziggurat did not disclose the full list of licenses, or the amount paid for them.”
