PIGCON (The Portland Indie Game Convention) is a two-day event celebrating independent game developers, at Norse Hall in Portland, Oregon. Hosted by the Portland Indie Game Squad (PIGSquad), it is the nonprofit’s first full-scale convention and aims to provide a space for indie developers and enthusiasts to learn and connect.
The convention features a mix of professional development and public community activities across several tracks:
Main Showcases: A large curated showfloor featuring approximately 40 indie games, including digital games, tabletop sessions, and an “alt ctrl” showcase for unique hardware interfaces.
Speaker Tracks: Two full days of talks from guest designers, programmers, and community organizers. Featured speakers include developers from the Seattle-based team behind Slay the Spire 2, as well as guests from New York, Europe, and Australia.
Workshops: Sessions for hands-on learning, such as a PICO-8 workshop and youth game-making tracks.
Community Events:
BYO Indie Showcase: On Sunday, a free and open-to-the-public event where anyone can set up and showcase their own games without prior sign-up.
Game Funeral: A Saturday night event featuring “post-mortems” on projects that were not successful.
Artist Alley: A space where local artists can sell game-related art.
