The Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences has opened its call for proposals for D.I.C.E. Athens 2026, asking developers and leaders to engage with the theme, “The Story Ahead”. Set to run from September 21-23, this summit will be framed around exploring how innovation, collaboration, and diverse voices will transform the industry’s challenges into breakthroughs and shape the future of play. This theme lands at a complex and challenging stretch for the global game development community.
The game industry is in a period of intense transition, facing challenges such as layoffs, difficulties securing funding for indie titles, and extreme market volatility, including sky-high memory and processor prices. At the same time, the rapid maturation of generative AI is shifting from an “experimentation to expectation” approach in content pipelines. Events like D.I.C.E. serve as helpful forums for developers navigating these technical and business issues in this current complex environment.
The D.I.C.E. Summit, a cornerstone event for interactive entertainment executives, reinforces its global reach with the Athens event. D.I.C.E. Athens 2026 is locked in for the Athens Marriott venue, providing a European hub for the community in September. With early bird registration already open, the conference aims to empower leadership discussions and foster global collaboration. The Academy encourages prompt speaker submissions before May 31 and before talk submission capacity is reached.
Interested industry professionals are invited to submit proposals under two main categories: Speaker and Roundtable Leader. Speaker options include solo presentations, fireside chats, and panels available for all attendees. For those looking for deeper engagement, the Roundtable Leader role involves facilitating a moderated group discussion with industry peers, aiming to build a dynamic exchange of ideas among up to ten participants at each table.
