Effective date: August 2, 2026
App name: Game Industry Events
Subtitle: Calendar & Networking
Website: EventsForGamers.com
Overview
Game Industry Events is a mobile companion app for EventsForGamers.com. It helps you browse the public event calendar, get notified about new events, and—if you choose—sign in with an EventsForGamers.com account to sync preferences and use member features such as profiles, attending lists, and saved events.
You can use the app without an account (guest mode). Creating an account is optional.
Information we collect
Stored on your device
Whether or not you are signed in, the app may store on your device:
- Keyword filter and alert mode preferences
- Advance reminder settings
- Last check timestamp and last seen event ID
- Onboarding and daily digest state
- A push notification token, if you grant notification permission
- Short-lived in-memory caches of public event and profile data to reduce network requests (cleared when you sign out or restart the app)
If you sign in, your session token is stored in the device secure keychain on iOS and Android. On web, it is stored in session storage for the current browser tab only (not shared across tabs or persisted after you close the tab). Sign out removes it from the device or browser tab.
App sessions on our servers expire after 30 days of inactivity, and we limit each account to 10 active sessions. Changing your WordPress password revokes existing app sessions.
Public event data
The app reads publicly available event listings from EventsForGamers.com via The Events Calendar REST API. No login is required to browse events.
Account and profile data (optional)
If you create an account or sign in with an existing EventsForGamers.com account, we store on our servers (WordPress):
- Email address and account credentials (managed by WordPress)
- Display name, first name, last name, nickname, and public display preference
- Profile fields you provide: bio, website, LinkedIn URL, job title, and employer name
- Profile photo URL (typically from Gravatar, linked to your account email)
- Events you mark as attending or saved (favorites)
- Your privacy settings (see below)
- Active app session tokens (hashed; used to keep you signed in)
- Follow and follower relationships when you connect with other members (by QR code, member number, or profile follow)
- Optional event context when a QR connection happens while both members are viewing the same event attendee list
Your email address is shown only to you in the app. It is not included in public profile data shown to other members.
Connections and follow data
When you use Quick connect (QR code) or follow another member:
- We store who follows whom on our servers so you can see Following and Followers lists
- QR mutual connections require both members to participate in the same scan flow; short-lived server nonces prevent unauthorized follow requests
- Manual follows by member number require your confirmation before a follow is created
- Social actions (follow, attend, favorite) are rate-limited to reduce spam and abuse
Other members see your connection with them in their own Following/Followers lists. They do not receive your email address through these features.
Push notification data
If you enable push notifications, we may store on our servers:
- Firebase Cloud Messaging device token
- Your keyword and alert preferences
- Device platform (iOS, Android, or web)
- An optional link between the device token and your account, if you are signed in
Social and visibility data
When you use member features, other users may see information about you only according to your privacy settings. You control these in the app under Privacy settings, or on the website under Users → Profile → App privacy.
| Setting | What it controls |
|---|---|
| Public profile | Whether other members can view your profile |
| Show attending events | Whether your attending list appears on your profile |
| Show favorite events | Whether your saved events appear on your profile |
| Show in attendee lists | Whether you appear in event attendee lists and counts |
| Show online status | Reserved for a future feature; stored but not displayed yet |
New accounts created in the app default to all visibility options off (opt-in).
Existing EventsForGamers.com members who have not saved privacy settings keep prior public behavior until they choose their preferences.
We do not collect precise location data from the app.
Feedback you send (optional)
When you use Send feedback in the app (Settings or the floating bug icon), we receive:
- Your message and category (bug, idea, or other)
- An optional contact email if you choose to provide one
- App version, platform, and device OS version (attached automatically)
- Your member user ID if you are signed in
Feedback is sent to EventsForGamers.com and emailed to our team so we can respond or fix issues. We do not use feedback for advertising.
Usage analytics (production builds)
In production app builds (not Expo Go development), we collect anonymous usage counters on our WordPress servers—for example, which screens are viewed and how often key actions occur. These counts do not include your email, name, or member ID. We use them only to understand aggregate app usage and improve the product, not for advertising or cross-app tracking.
How we use information
- Load and display calendar events
- Check for newly published events and send local or push notifications matching your filters
- Authenticate your account and keep you signed in
- Store and sync your profile, attending lists, favorites, privacy choices, and follow relationships
- Enable mutual member connections via QR code or member number
- Show member profiles and attendee lists when members have chosen to be visible
- Open event pages on EventsForGamers.com when you tap a notification or event
- Respond to feedback you submit through the app
- Understand aggregate app usage from anonymous counters (production builds)

Account deletion
If you create or use an EventsForGamers.com member account (WordPress Subscriber role) in Game Industry Events, you can initiate and submit account deletion from within the app. You do not need to contact support separately to start this process.
Site staff accounts (Author, Editor, Administrator, Contributor, and other roles with publishing or admin access) cannot be deleted from the app. Those accounts must be managed through EventsForGamers.com directly; contact contact@eventsforgamers.com if you need help.
In the app (signed in):
- Open Settings (Alerts tab) or Profile.
- Tap Request account deletion.
- Confirm your account email and submit the in-app form.
When you submit a deletion request through the app, your request is received and processed by EventsForGamers.com. We delete your account record and associated personal data, including:
- Profile information (display name, bio, job title, employer, links, and related fields)
- Privacy settings
- Events you marked as attending or saved
- Follow and follower relationships and connection history stored for the app
- App session tokens and push notification subscriptions linked to your account
- Alert preference data stored on our servers for your account
This is account deletion, not temporary deactivation. We do not offer a “freeze account” option in place of deletion.
We complete deletion within 3 business days of a verified in-app request. You are signed out when your request is submitted. We may contact you at the email on your account if we need to verify the request or confirm when deletion is complete.
If you cannot access the app, you may request the same deletion using the instructions in our privacy policy on EventsForGamers.com.
For questions about deletion status: contact@eventsforgamers.com.
To report another member’s profile, open their profile in the app and tap Report member, or email contact@eventsforgamers.com with the member’s ID.
