Rooster Teeth’s RTX Austin Event Goes Digital Again for 2021

In 2021, in terms of events, it looks a lot like 2020 so far. Planners for all sorts of events (including gaming, of course), still have to make carefully calculated estimates, factoring in how many attendees, sponsors, speakers will be likely to commit to the live experience — and whether or not they’ll be able to safely offer the event experience. With so many variables and risks in flux at this point in 2021, a lot of organizers have opted to stick with safer and easier-to-plan-for virtual experiences.

Rooster Teeth’s RTX Austin 2021 event can also be added to that list of “not canceled but virtual.”

Today, Clarissa Gonzalez, Senior Events Manager at Rooster Teeth, made the announcement via blog post. The Austin, Texas-based video production company has decided to take their entertainment, animation, and gaming event online-only again in 2021, presenting from July 8-17.

Would-be attendees of the 2020 RTX Austin show were provided the option of accepting a full credit for their pass or postpone their pass and accept a few perks that may make it easier to commit to attending in 2022 — when, presumably, there’s a much better chance the event will be hosted again in Austin.

During the last live RTX Austin, held in 2019, a projected 60,000 attendees were expected to have attended. For more info, visit the official RTX Austin website, which reflects this latest update
