The Escapist Presents The Extra Credits Innovation Awards at LOGIN 2011

Apr 08 2011 07:00 AM | Events For Gamers in LOGIN

Videogame Contest Now Open for from Professionals, Hobbyists and Students

BELLEVUE, Washington, April 8, 2011 - Evergreen Events, the host of the 2011 LOGIN Conference is excited to announce the first-ever “Extra Credits Innovation Awards”, presented by the award-winning The Escapist online entertainment editorial publication in partnership with the LOGIN Conference. This awards ceremony will celebrate developers’ most daring and creative additions to the industry and will take place at 6 PM on the night of May 17 in the Theater at Bellevue’s Meydenbauer Center.

The awards will celebrate the risks developers take to help progress the industry’s evolution and create games and technologies of the highest level of polish and refinement. Winners will demonstrate advancement in the following categories: Innovation in Game Design, Innovation in Narrative Delivery, Most Unbelievably Awesomely Fun, Genre Buster Award, Positive Impact Innovator and the LOGIN Special Award for Innovation in Multiplayer.

“There are a lot of great developers out there who are going to bring the games industry to the next level, the only problem is most developers don’t have the monetary availability that high end development studios do,” said James Portnow, writer of Extra Credits on The Escapist and CEO of Rainmaker Games. “This can lead to very few people ever being privy to some great inventive development that is being produced all around us that could really benefit the industry.”

The proud producer of Extra Credits, The Escapist is an innovator in online videogame journalism and entertainment with a community built around passionate and creative individuals. Beginning today, The Escapist will be accepting videogame submissions from any and all game developers, from major studios to school projects. Finalists will be announced May 2, and at least one representative must be present at the LOGIN festivities to demonstrate their game on May 17.

“LOGIN is proud to be hosting the first edition of these prestigious awards and that a special award will be given to honor innovation in multiplayer games,” said Peter Freese, Conference Director for the LOGIN Conference. “We feel these awards add even more depth and breadth to the value Evergreen Events, our speakers, sponsors and attendees are bringing to LOGIN 2011 from May 16th to the 18th.”
