Facebook Game Developer Boot Camp Unveiled as New LOGIN Agenda Addition

May 02 2011 07:00 AM | Events For Gamers in LOGIN

Premiere Seattle area game conference dedicates dedicated track to Facebook game development

BELLEVUE, Washington, MAY 2, 2011 — As social games become more influential and command greater interest from developers, audiences and investors, the LOGIN Conference has given more focus to this fast-rising segment within the online games business. Now, 2011 LOGIN has devoted an entire standalone track to the topic of game development on the world’s most popular social platform. An estimated total of more than 200 million of the 600 million Facebook users play games on that platform every month.

The Facebook Game Developer Boot Camp, a day-long track, takes place Wednesday, May 18th. The track will cover topics such as current tools for virality, metrics, monetization and many others which are of significant and growing importance to a wide range of game developers looking to make the move into social games -- or to fine-tune their social game development they already have.

“Social game development is exploding in the Seattle area, as evidenced by recent investments and expansion by established companies like Zynga and PopCap.” said Peter Freese, Director of the LOGIN Conference. “There are also tremendous opportunities in the space for new development teams because of the extremely low barrier to entry and the ability to rapidly iterate on game ideas. By making Facebook game development front and center at LOGIN this year, we’re helping to expose developers to new possibilities for creativity and entrepreneurship.”

The Facebook Game Developer Boot Camp is open to all LOGIN Conference attendees, including Wednesday Day-Pass holders. Those interested in attending the Boot Camp will need to reserve their spot when registering for the conference, as space is limited and expected to fill up quickly due to high demand. Discounted online registration pricing for LOGIN (including the Facebook Game Developer Boot Camp) expires at midnight tonight. After May 2, prices will go up to late registration rates.

Current discounted registration rates are as follows: Developer passes are available for $495; Executive passes are available for $695; VIP passes are available for $895; Single-Day passes are available for $295. All full conference passes offer access to sessions, keynotes, lunches, the opening night Session Preview/Welcome Reception, and the Facebook Game Developer Boot Camp. Executive and VIP passes offer additional amenities, including networking breakfasts and access to the LOGIN Business Lounge for private on-site meetings.

Full information about the passes and what each offers is available through this link: http://www.2011.loginconference.com/register.php.

Held from May 16 to May 18, the LOGIN Conference is an annual game industry event created for the leading voices and minds from all corners of the online game industry around the world. The online game industry is evolving to include massively multiplayer games, virtual worlds, and social games across consoles, PCs, browsers, and mobile platforms, and LOGIN reflects these industry-wide changes for the benefit of all attendees. The conference is designed to encourage networking and create unique business and educational opportunities for all attendees. The 2011 LOGIN Conference will feature a networking expo area, conference party, welcome reception, speed networking breakfasts, and keynote lunches.

Conveniently located near many of Washington’s best and brightest game developers and publishers, as well as the Seattle-Tacoma Airport, the LOGIN Conference will add value to attendees seeking ready access to the heart of the game industry in the Northwest. The majority of game companies near Seattle are located east of the city; among these 42 game developers and publishers are household names like Microsoft Game Studios and Nintendo, as well as Valve, Gas Powered Games, Sony Online Entertainment, Gazillion and many others.
